![]() ![]() This winter, I didn't even do that, and it was fine. In past years, I have started it at least once, maybe twice during the winter, and run it for several minutes. I read how some go thru tons of steps in storing an old car for winter, and I do absolutely nothing but park it. It started just like it always does in the middle of summer. That's after about 5 months of sitting and NO starting it, and the battery is still connected. Then, my battery in my 72 GTO is several years old, and that car sits thru the winter, and just yesterday, I fired it up with no problem. As you know, my Bonneville battery is 8 years old, and I've bragged about how long we have on that one. Could this be my first indication of a battery going bad? Hard to accept at 3.5 years old. Just, I hope by not driving it around more yesterday, I didn't compound the problem. I looked at the battery volt gauge, and it was in the normal range, exactly where it usually is, so it doesn't seem to have an issue when the vehicle is running. I wonder if it needs to be driven, at a decent speed, for a certain length of time before that message goes off. Then shut it off and didn't do anything else. The weather is now very warm, summer-like.hard to understand why the battery would be weaker than in the cold temps? What I did yesterday was just drive it home, which was only about a 2-minute drive. I was sitting in the car by the playground while my girls were playing. Now, my question is.is there anything I need to do now? This happened yesterday while sitting in the vehicle with the radio on, but it was about half an hour.not sure if that long would have brought the battery down that much, but I have been driving very short trips with the Enclave lately. I'm sure this has been discussed on here before, but I didn't find it thru the search.there are so many dead battery threads instead of picking one of those, I thought I'd just start this one so people can know what that message means.if you don't want to look in the manual. The normal battery voltage range is 11.5 to 15.5 volts. Turn off all unnecessary accessories to allow the battery to recharge. It means that the vehicle is trying to save the charge in the battery. At the point that the features are disabled, this message is displayed. The battery-saver system starts reducing certain features of the vehicle that you may be able to notice. This message displays when the system detects that the battery voltage is dropping below expected levels. Looked at the owner's manual, and this is what it says:
